Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope (Wikipedia)
When Solo and Skywalker are on the DeathStar and realize Leia is there too Skywalker tries to convince Solo to go and save her. Solo won’t budge until …
Skywalker: She’s rich.
Solo: Rich?
Skywalker: Rich, Powerful. Look, if you rescue her, the reward would be…
Solo: What?
Skywalker: Well, more wealth than you can imagine.
Solo: I don’t know, I can imagine quite a bit.
Skywalker: You’ll get it.
Solo: I better.
Skywalker: You will.
Solo: Alright kid, you better be right about this.
Then later after they rescue her Solo and Leia have a little confrontation.
Solo: Look I ain’t in this for your revolution, and I not in it for you, princess. I expect to be well paid. I’m in it for the money.
Leia: You needen’t worry about your reward. If money is all you love, then that’s what you’ll receive.
I love that last line. If all we are seeking is money… then that is what we will get. This has some other interesting implications for our purpose here on the earth. We need to be seeking the kingdom of God and not seeking for riches. Take a look at the scriptures below for some great insights into wealth in our own lives. You’ll remember later on that Han becomes one of the good guys and get’s his priorities in check, but he struggles throughout the rest of the movies with his desire for worldly fame and prestige! The Lord promises that if we get it right, we shall be rich with eternal life.
